Armed or Unarmed —
You Must Be Certified

Unlike Armed security guards in Georgia, Unarmed security guards are not required to be licensed to provide services. However, there are some basic requirements that must be met — including being the proper age (21 years) and being lawfully employable as a U.S. citizen or qualified alien.

Although Unarmed security guards are not required to be registered with the State Licensing Board, they ARE required to be properly trained and "Certified" under a board-certified instructor according to the standards adopted by the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies.

Whether Armed or Unarmed, the requirements include a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of classroom instruction covering the core topics. This course meets and exceeds the Georgia 24-Hour State Mandated Security Guard Course, taught in accordance with GA Code 509-3-02 by a State Certified Instructor.
